Employee Spotlight: Jonas Heimann

How long have you been with grosse-hornke? What is your role on your team?

I started working here as a Consultant at the end of 2019. Now as a Project Manager, I am responsible for projects – mostly IT ones – for companies in the banking and insurance or pharmaceutical industries.

What initially interested you about grosse-hornke? What do you enjoy about working here?

Before I came to grosse-hornke, I already knew that I would identify more with a small to medium-sized management consultancy thanks to experiences of my friends at well-known large management consultancies. When I moved to Münster after my studies, I realized very quickly that the work of grosse-hornke interested me. What is particularly noteworthy in our daily work is that we are allowed to use our strengths in positions of responsibility right from the start, and that we work together as a team to bring projects forward.

What was your dream job as a child and what has your journey been like to arrive where you are today?

As a child, growing up in Gummersbach, I discovered early on that I like to deal intensively with a wide variety of topics and that I have an affinity for technology. That’s why I started studying mechanical engineering in Aachen. During my school and university years, I noticed that I like to organize and approach problems in a structured way, and that I love to work with people. That’s why my work at grosse-hornke fits very well with my personality and interests.

How have your studies been relevant to your role at grosse-hornke?

After a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, I did a Masters in production engineering, also at RWTH Aachen. Across my studies, I learned intensively how to deal with issues in detail, quickly and effectively. This ability benefits me today in my job at grosse-hornke, as we are always familiarizing ourselves with new projects and topics and driving them forward. In this respect, the work also fits in very well with my studies, as I have been working increasingly in the IT sector with a technical focus.

What piece of advice would you give to an aspiring management consultant?

Do your best and absorb the experience your colleagues share like a sponge! In consulting, you can learn a lot of things very quickly and should be ready for the exciting challenge.

How do you like to spend your free time/unwind?

Mainly with my friends and family. For example, I love game nights, vacations together and running around with my two little nephews.

I also enjoy doing sport. I have always had a passion for playing soccer since I was a little kid. Up until the men’s teams, I gave my best every season – many years as captain – and had a great time with my teammates. During my studies, I started playing in student soccer leagues and an extracurricular team. Unfortunately, I have had knee problems in the last few years, so I hardly play soccer anymore, but I still enjoy watching games on TV or in the stadium, e.g., in my homebase of Münster with SC Preußen Münster.

Another passion that I have been pursuing since I was a teenager is karting. I love to get faster and faster and to beat others in a race. But I especially enjoy the togetherness here as well.
